Description

Lieutenant Seppuku is the anti-hero of F-Zero: Seppuku and one of the main protagonists.

Seppuku's age, real name, face, and background is a mystery to all. Seppuku is commonly referred to as the Man of Mystery as a result of this. What is known about him by his closest peers is that he first arrived on Earth a few years before the F-Zero X Grand Prix. He originally lived in Wales, but left for Japan as he quickly grew a distaste for English speaking people. Seppuku carries an elegant claymore sword from Wales to the present day.

Seppuku chose Mute City, Japan as his new home--and was almost immediately recognized by Galactic Federation chief,
Jody Summer, who admired his unbreakable attitude and fierceness. Seppuku was employed into the Galactic Federation Special Ops team composed of Jody Summer, Dr. Stewart, and Dr. Clash--later to implement Rick Wheeler, Mr. EAD, John Tanaka, and Jack Levin. Seppuku climbed up the ranks and was eventually promoted to Lieutenant Detective by Jody Summer. Jody had also panned out an idea to turn his machine, the Red Dove, into an F-Zero machine--as it lacked certain needed parts to qualify. Seppuku agreed to this, but ultimately found joining the Grand Prix to be pointless. Unfortunately, before they even began working on the Red Dove, Seppuku had committed a very controversial act of unlawful duty one day as the Federation was tasked to assault a suspected black market district in Mute City. Despite Jody's orders, Seppuku went and killed nearly every arms dealer--even though they were defenseless at the time. Not only did he kill the suspected dealers, but he stole some of the weapons for himself--most notably a high caliber un-scoped sniper rifle. Despite the Federation's high admiralty for Seppuku, Jody had finally issued a secret meeting and discussed firing him. Dr. Stewart, Dr. Clash, and John Tanaka all opposed firing Seppuku--but Jody did so anyways. Thus creating a future of extreme tension between Jody and Seppuku.

That same year, Seppuku had surprised Jody greatly by making a surprise appearance in the Grand Prix with both a competition worthy machine and F-Zero pilot's license. Seppuku's lust for crime fighting had never truly come to an end, his lust only grew--as he now had fabricated a plan of his own to form a crime fighting legion. The same year Seppuku joined the Grand Prix, Black Shadow had left--leaving Seppuku with only Blood Falcon to consider a criminal. Despite this, Seppuku left Blood Falcon alone for the many years he raced. Seppuku never won a Grand Prix, he considered Jody Summer his rival--yet he never allowed himself to actually attack her. The only person he despised on the track just as much as Jody was Captain Falcon for reasons unknown to the public.

Seppuku's first Grand Prix went fairly bad--as he couldn't even manage to rank in the top six by the final race. Seppuku was viewed as yet another average racer that could keep up, but would never actually pull off a Grand Prix victory--let alone get first place in any races. Seppuku's luck changed however the following year, during the opening race to the Grand Prix in Mute City, Seppuku had once again failed to take first. After the race, he was confronted by angry Blood Falcon fans--who claimed that he was sabotaging Blood Falcon's chances of winning the Grand Prix. Seppuku brushed off the comments, but soon found himself in the middle of a physical fight. Despite his strength, he found himself somewhat struggling to break free of their grasp. Destiny struck him as a man by the name of Earl Bendek jumped in to assist him. Earl had picked off one lone fan while Seppuku dealt with the other two--Seppuku had left the two in a bloody mess, leaving the one fighting Earl to retreat. After the fight, Earl began to boast about his victory--ironically, Earl was one of the original Lieutenant Seppuku fans, as he found the idea of rooting for a new racer to be interesting and good for gambling purposes. Earl started off their meeting by offending Seppuku. Seppuku had no plans of speaking with Earl and was merely going to drive off in the Red Dove, but Earl had examined his machine and automatically began pointing out various flaws--thus explaining why he wasn't competing well in the Grand Prix. Seppuku was offended by this, but was hesitant to ask for recommendations. Earl was shooting a bit more highly however, he asked if he could work for him for work credit--as Earl was an odd job bum of the Lower City. Seppuku wasn't very interested in this, but immediately recognized his potential of being a mechanic and came up with an alternative idea. He was ready to commence his plan of starting a vigilante group.

A few years later, Seppuku and Earl had formed an illegal Lower City organization together--Earl being the mechanic of his two-man team. Seppuku was the boss of the organization and had located an abandoned complex in the Lower City--which he successfully converted into a base of operations. Seppuku's idea was simple--take advantage of the gang war going on in the Lower City between Brock Blaskovitz Red Star and Michael Chain's Bloody Chain. Seppuku would go out hunting for what he called goons (Gang members) and would always loot wallets off of their bodies afterwards--this is where the organization's income came from. Earl's job was to keep maintenance on the Red Dove, as he would use this during gang confrontations and commonly batter it up. It was Earl's job especially to make sure that the Red Dove was ready for use in any Grand Prix race. The problem Seppuku was faced with, was that he commonly wanted a partner to help him with violent missions--he occasionally could fool Earl into doing these, but not without heavy criticism and objections as a result. Despite how well the organization was going, Seppuku knew a solution would need to be found.

Somewhere along the lines, Seppuku had been out shortly before midnight scanning for crime--little did he know, this would be a very fateful night for him. As he would leap rooftop to rooftop, he had a good view of the streets from any point--while scanning the streets, he had spotted a woman carrying a package. He had caught a glimpse of her at the perfect time however, as he soon spotted two men come out of an alley and begin to follow her. Seppuku silently followed them from above the rooftops, until he finally found that they had stopped her. Shortly into the stopping, it had become abundantly clear to Seppuku that the woman was going to be violated by the men. He sent out a warning to the men, but they did not heed his warning to leave. As a result, the man that was about to grope her was shot dead. Seppuku went down and allowed for the other rapist to live, letting him run away while he still could. Seppuku secured the woman, and immediately picked up slight interest in her after discovering that the package she had contained an F-Zero engine. Seppuku decided to test the woman and watch her closely, so he gave her a handgun with the excuse that she might encounter more rapists--but this was in all honesty just a test to see if she would keep the gun with her, which would prove to him if she might be someone of interest to her.

A day after the first Grand Prix race, he had been approached by the woman again--and she still had the gun. Seppuku very reluctantly greeted her and finally obtained her name, Chiya Flower. Seppuku took up this opportunity to expand his knowledge on her some more, and to an even bigger surprise to him--she was knowledgeable on both F-Zero and the mechanics it involved, another concept he liked about her. One of the other major things he had discovered was that she was from the isolated planet of Mysteria--which did not allow its citizens to leave, so he knew that she had a dark past from the start. Before Seppuku could continue, the bar they were in was assaulted by Michael Chain and two of his gang members. Chain came in with the intention of killing Seppuku--and he nearly did, as he shot him clean to the floor. Fortunately, Chiya was a loose cannon and began firing at him--but ultimately only wounded him slightly, but it was enough for her to make an escape with. Despite Seppuku barely being able to keep a grasp on his own life as he bled, he was still thinking mostly about hiring Chiya--so he decided to seal the deal by instructing her to drive him back to his secret base as fast as possible in the Red Dove. Chiya hesitantly agreed and drove him there with the help of a GPS device, she had also maneuvered Chain and his men, who were chasing them. Seppuku was brought into his base, where Chiya and Earl had met for the second time--a shocking encounter.

Earl had left Chiya alone in the lobby of the base for several minutes as he operated on Seppuku. Once he was more awake, he instructed Earl to keep Chiya in the base until he was back on his feet--as he had every intention of hiring her at this point. Earl had offered Chiya to stay a night in the base--Chiya being a homeless bum was hesitantly reluctant to agree, and slept in an actual bed for the first time in five years. She awoke and went in search of a clock, but was immediately encountered by Seppuku, who was now able to walk again. The two had a conversation in his office, immediately bartering over her hiring. In the end, the terms were met that Chiya would work for him and live in the base for a consistent pay and guarantee of an eventual F-Zero machine.

Seppuku now lives with Chiya and Earl in the base, where he now runs a successful illegal vigilante group. Little does he and his companions know, his future holds much more than fighting gangs and racing...
